How Does She Do It.....

How Does She Do It.....

How does she do it? Mommy, Entrepreneur, Guest Blogger, Director of Social Engagements for a major Brand, part time Teacher, assist in care taking of Gparents, and loyal Friend. Yes, I wear a lot of hats but I wouldn't have it any other way. The only way that I can manage everything on my never ending to-do list is to take care of me first! I had to learn this the hard way.

There was a point in my life where I was running myself ragged for others and expecting that they would take care of me the way that I was taking care of them. Which lead me into a path of not taking care of myself and I began to fall into a feeling of depression. I noticed that I didn't want to do anything, I was frequently sad and then one day it dawned on me. You don't feel good because you are empty, you have nothing else to give.  I started looking for ways to feel better and I looked towards those people that were depleting me but I learned really quickly that you can't expect the source of your pain, to heal you! So I walked away from all the people and things that were not serving me in a good way. I choose me!

I can't take care of anyone else until I take care of me first!

That is exactly what I set out to do....take care of me! Discovering who you are as a person is a life long journey that will evolve your whole life. What you needed 5 years ago may not be what you need now. So how do you continue to learn and stay in tune with who you are as you are growing and evolving into who you want to be? For me it is 3 things that I learned to include in my daily routine back when I learned that I have the ability to fall into depression if I don't take care of myself.

1. Walk away from anything that doesn't serve you (make you feel better about yourself and your actions).

Walk away, walk away, walk away, nothing is worth your health! Life is meant to be enjoyed, not spent sad because you are not in a good relationship, you hate your job, or you are constantly saying yes to things you don't want to do. LET IT GO!!!

2. Develop an exercise routine.

Get active, move your body. It doesn't have to be the traditional work out at the gym. It could be a dance class, a trip to Skyzone, a long walk with your dog. Just do something that gets you moving. Your body will thank you for it. Plus people that are active are less likely to feel depressed.

3. Meditate, Reflect, Pray, and Journal.

Find a quiet place to become one with yourself and your God. However you need to do it, do it.

Do I get tired? ABSOLUTELY! I have a lot going on but I listen to my body and when I need to stop, I stop. But the only way that I am able to do so much is by taking care of me first! Try it I guarantee that you will be a different person.
